A mother considers placing her son with Down syndrome in foster care, prompting the father to take on the responsibility of raising the child independently.
Each day, newborns enter the world with a range of conditions that set them apart. However, some parents may not fully accept and embrace these differences. Unfortunately, some parents may even consider giving up or disowning their children if they do not meet their strict standards of perfection.
Even with the progress in understanding and acceptance in today’s society, prejudice and uncertainty continue to affect children with Down syndrome. A Russian father, Evgeny Anisimov, is resolute about breaking the stigma associated with Down syndrome while single-handedly raising his son, Misha, who has the condition.
At 33 years old, Evgeny is determined to demonstrate that children with Down syndrome deserve love and acceptance just like everyone else. He is now the primary caregiver for his son after his wife left due to struggling with their son’s diagnosis.
