Pauley Perrette’s Multiple Incidents of “Cheating Death” on NCIS

Pauley Perrette’s previous character, Abigail “Abby” Sciuto, had a deep connection with death in the forensics lab. Unfortunately, she has also had to confront the harsh reality of mortality in her personal life on numerous occasions. Perrette has revealed that the true unsettling aspects were taking place off-camera on “NCIS.” In an interview with Assignment X, she mentioned that she was never affected by the show’s weekly corpses and the utilization of rather graphic props and special effects. “I always want to reassure children that what they see is not real, and no actors were harmed in the process.” “It’s all in good fun,” she remarked. She did, however, believe it was crucial to demonstrate that Sciuto still had a sense of empathy towards the deaths of her colleagues, showing that she wasn’t completely desensitized to the concept of death.

The actor’s choice of band name, Stop Making Friends, reflects a dark and intriguing inspiration from the Grim Reaper. This name also alludes to the actor’s real-life pursuit of catching criminals, a career she abandoned to delve into the world of investigating murders on television. “I studied criminology, and she informed Paul Semel in 2013 that individuals are at a higher risk of experiencing harm from acquaintances, including murder, assault, or rape,” she shared. “I crafted a story in my mind about an individual who believed that isolating themselves was their only path to survival.” However, there was a time when Perrette had a frightening encounter with a stranger that made her feel like she narrowly escaped death.

A man threatened her life

In a 2022 Twitter video, Pauley Perrette gave her fans a quick rundown of the multiple instances where she felt like her life was in danger. They included being physically assaulted by a man named David Merck. In a 2015 tweet, Perrette recounted how Merck accosted her not far from her home. “He grabbed me so forcefully, pinned my arm, punched me in the nose, forehead, repeatedly telling me he was going to kill me,” Perrette wrote. “Then he showed me how he was going to kill me.” Thankfully, he eventually let her go and was later apprehended by the police.

After his arrest, Merck was sent to a psychiatric facility and was released in 2018. “I’m afraid the next word I hear about this guy is that he’s killed a female,” Perrette told Fox 411 at the time, adding that the attack had made her fearful to leave home.

Perrette has also spoken about having a stalker who targeted her for years and made her fear for her life. In a 2017 “48 Hours” interview, she said that law enforcement officials would do nothing to help her, making the situation even more traumatic. “I had been harassed and terrorized for so long … I was completely suicidal,” she said. Perrette also tweeted that she’d thought about moving to London to escape her stalker. “Love my country & my job But I don’t want to die,” she wrote.

Pauley Perrette’s health scares

Pauley Perrette recently shared a Twitter video recounting the numerous near misses she has experienced, including a stroke in 2021 that posed a serious threat to her life. “Yes, I’m here once more. “How many times do I defy mortality?” she asked. According to her, she became aware of a serious issue when she experienced numbness on one side of her body. However, instead of immediately going to the hospital, she decided to contact her doctor first. “He urgently instructed her to head to the emergency room,” she remembered. She followed his guidance, and following her time at the stroke center, it took several months for her to regain her previous sense of self.

Perrette experienced a significant health scare due to an allergic reaction caused by the hair dye she used to darken her hair for her role in “NCIS.” She shared a picture of the facial swelling she encountered, along with a reference to an article discussing a tragic incident related to a certain allergy. “If I make another mistake, it could be fatal,” she confided to ET during a 2014 interview. One year later, she shared on social media about another close encounter with mortality, recounting how a reckless driver disregarded a stop sign and collided with her car. “I am overwhelmed with gratitude, amazed by the fact that I am here, safe with my dogs, sharing this on social media,” she wrote. So, she’s telling the truth when she refers to herself as a survivor, and we hope that the Grim Reaper finally puts an end to this “Final Destination” nonsense.
