Farmer worries about “creepy crawlies” and rodents all the time. The uninvited guests usually devour the produce and could spread illness. Still, a field of cannabis retaliated against a small invader. One mouse was discovered amid the plants in New Brunswick, Canada, where cannabis is legal. It was “stoned,” sleeping on its back.
Finding a “Stoned” Mouse Among Cannabis Leaves
Colin Sullivan reported that for two days running, he had observed the small rodent taking leaves from his crops. The mouse was seen in photos munching at its little “harvest” before it experienced any consequences. Totally unconscious, the rodent was found laying on his leaf pile.
Sullivan put the mouse in a cage to “detox” till it was back to normal. The mouse fled back into the wilderness six days later.
“For two days in a row, I’ve caught this little pothead taking leaves off of my plant and eating them until he passes out,” the owner said on Facebook about the hilarious encounter.
He may be self-medicating for his PTSD because he is missing an ear, but I still believe that an intervention is in order. This one I’ll let him sleep through, but he’s going to get a very harsh lecture when he wakes up.
Entering “Rehab,” the Mouse
A few days later, when the mouse was still within his Perspex cage, Sullivan informed his followers.
Our little baked friend has had a few difficult days, but I believe he will fully recover from his stomach discomfort and severe case of the munchies.
Weaned to one medium leaf a day, he appears to be responding well. One day at a time, my buddy, one day at a time.”
The mouse left “rehab” three days later. With several suitable jokes, Sullivan announced the mouse’s sobriety:
‘On the Rodent to Redemption.
This small mouse is prepared to roll out after a protracted and terrible fight with addiction. He has ground up his fight, removed the seeds and stems. Joining together helps weeds all clear the smoke in an addict’s life. Having given it his all, he received his first Twelve Step chip.
Though he was the one who freed himself, I may have been the one to open his cage. My friend, good bye till we cross paths again.

New Brunswick Cannabis Laws.
Though each province and territory handles the drug differently, cannabis has been legal in Canada since 2018.
“With our decisions, actions, and legislation, we are building a culture that is safe, legal, responsible, and limited to adults,” the New Brunswick government states on their official website. While seizing the financial potential this new sector offers, we are giving public health education and awareness top priority.
Cannabis can only be sold by licenced stores in this province, and consumption of marijuana requires one to be 19 years old. A person can only own thirty grammes at a time. Furthermore forbidden will be the use of cannabis in public or while driving. Tenant smoking and growing of cannabis is prohibited by landlords. They cannot forbid smoking cannabis, though, if they allow tobacco smoking.
“In order to make educated decisions on their personal cannabis use, New Brunswickers must understand the risks,” they said in closing.
