Larry, a Vietnam veteran, was reportedly down on his luck and had no idea where to turn. He could hardly afford the most basic comforts.
As luck would have it, though, he was going to run into a Fox 5 Surprise Squad while paying for groceries at a Las Vegas grocery shop.
Larry took his injured fellow veteran friend Stephanie to the supermarket even though he was having money difficulties. Though she acknowledged that she was down to her last $50 and didn’t know what to do after that, Stephanie informed the Fox 5 reporter that she was purchasing food for herself and her dogs.
Stephanie was overjoyed to hear from Dave Hall, the reporter in charge of the Surprise Squad, that he and his group would take care of her shopping.
Then Dave saw Larry, standing subtly behind Stephanie. As it happens, Stephanie’s husband’s buddy Larry founded the Bones for Blankets club many years ago. Club goal? To give veterans who have served their nation and are now homeless blankets.
Tragically, three more veterans froze to death before Larry founded the club. Making ensuring no more veterans met the same end was his goal.
