Passenger declines to offer seat to expectant mother on subway…
While riding the subway today, I experienced something that truly made me reflect. A pregnant woman boarded the bus, appearing extremely fatigued, as though she had been standing all day. It was clear that she required a seat, but the train was packed. She observed a young man seated, fully engrossed in his phone. She walked up to him and inquired, ‘May I take a seat?’ I am feeling quite exhausted.
The young man glanced at her briefly and replied, ‘Sorry, I arrived here first.’
At that moment, an older gentleman with a cane rose to his feet and kindly offered his seat to the woman. You need it more than I do. She expressed her gratitude and took a seat, appearing noticeably relieved. The elderly gentleman then addressed the young man with a strong, unwavering tone, asking, ‘Are you a man, son?’ The young man glanced up, a bit puzzled, and replied, ‘Yes.’ The elderly gentleman replied, ‘I beg to differ.’ Simply possessing something between your legs doesn’t define your masculinity.
A true gentleman assists those in need and provides strength and support to those who need it. And clearly, you’re not demonstrating that today. The young man blushed. He remained silent, appearing lost in thought. The subway journey carried on, with all the passengers in the carriage deep in thought about the old man’s words.
